Making stuff people don’t know they want yet is tough if you don’t have deep pockets

Augmented Reality (AR) headset competitors to Microsoft and Magic Leap are starting to fill the corner of a graveyard.

AR start-up Daqri burnt through $300 million in investment funding before it shuttered last year then sold its assets to Snap (Google’s parent co).

Osterhout Design Group shuttered in 2018 and dumped its patents, last year it was Meta. Meta was invested by Tencent and other Chinese funders who were unable to top-up thanks to Trump’s trade war.

We can expect to see Daqri’s assets become commercially available in some form.
